Over time my power cable started to not click in properly in my Samsung Galaxy Nexus. I’d have to precariously balance the cord in and NOT TOUCH IT lest it fall out.
The fix? A pin. I used the point of a clothespin to scrape around the USB port and removed three years worth of pocket lint which was forcing the USB plug too far out to click in. The back of a USB port isn’t supposed to be spongey – keep scraping until you get it all! I almost bought a new phone because of this, but there was nothing wrong! I hope this helps someone else – get a pin before you chuck the phone, you never know! Gross.
