Broken Heels and Bicycle Wheels – my book!

Join me on my epic adventure from 2018 where I tried to traverse this great nation of ours by walking Te Araroa and then cycling Tour Aotearoa!

What you’ll get:

  • 250 pages of English words
  • Section maps for both the tramping and the biking
  • Paperback or various eBook formats – MOBI for the Kindle folk, ePub for everyone else and PDF for the traditionalists.
  • Photos at the end. Don’t peek, I look better in your mind!

Jonathan Kennett (NZ cycling legend and designer of Tour Aotearoa) enjoyed the read:

What a great book! Honest, opinionated, irritating at times, and often funny.

Larry actually set out to walk the Te Araroa Trail, but had an injury that forced him to stop early on. Gutted, but not ready to give up, he decided to try cycling the Tour Aotearoa instead. It’s an interesting perspective of bikepacking from someone who had never done bikepacking before.

And it reminded me of my first big trip (also a solo trip), where I made so many rookie mistakes but got there in the end.

A few more reviews:

“This is such an enjoyable ride. Larry is honest and funny and vulnerable and heroic. He shows us the world in New Zealand  – the problems we need to solve and the hope needed to enable those changes. Trampers, cyclists, sit-at-home puddings – you should all get this book. Larry has endured the pain so you don’t have to – you can just sit back and relax and enjoy.”

– Ian

“I really enjoyed reading your book. In many parts I could practically feel the wind blowing through my hair. The sense of journey is strong.”

– Beggs

Check it out! I’d love to hear what you think of it.

Note (May 2021): I’ve turned the shop off as I can’t be bothered with the tax stuff. You can find paperback copies of my book in a few libraries, and email me if you’re real keen.

A tale as old as time here – great book, poor marketing!

  1. Hey Larry, Purchased your ebook the other day. I enjoy the way you write. It is so honest, descriptive and real to the point of making one feel they are part of your journey and I haven’t laughed this much in a long time. Most enjoyable.
